Drumconrath Water Supply Upgrade
Uisce Éireann is progressing a major project to upgrade the Drumconrath Water Supply.
Uisce Éireann is progressing plans to upgrade the water supply infrastructure at Drumconrath. The project will enable replacement of the existing unsustainable source and provide upgrade to the treatment facilities at Drumconrath, which currently supplies over 1,200 customers in Drumconrath and surrounding areas.
This multi-million investment will safeguard water supply for homes and businesses in Drumconrath and surrounding areas. The current water scheme is included on the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Remedial Action List (RAL), which identifies water supplies that need improvement.
Coffey will carry out the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann.

- Ensure compliance with current drinking water quality regulations.
- Enable social and economic growth in the area.
What’s involved in this project?
The upgrade to Drumconrath Water Treatment Plant will involve:
- The inclusion of a new raw water source for the Drumconrath WTP, at a groundwater well site located in Posseckstown.
- The development of a new rising main to convey raw water from the new source to the upgraded water treatment plant.
- The development of upgrades to the existing WTP at Drumconrath, to adequately treat the raw water to deliver 1,000 m³/day of potable water which is consistently in compliance with the current drinking water regulations.
What are the next steps?
To facilitate water main installation works, Meath County Council has granted temporary road closures at L-7410-0 Cregg and L-74033-0 Posseckstown, Nobber, Co. Meath. The road closures will be in effect from Monday, 05 January until Monday, 09 February, 2026, for 24 hours per day. Diversionary routes will be clearly signposted. Local and emergency access will be facilitated at all times throughout the closure period.
