Carrigart Sewerage Scheme

Uisce Éireann, working in partnership with Donegal County Council, is progressing with works to upgrade the Carrigart Sewerage Scheme.

Once complete, the €8 million wastewater treatment plant upgrade will benefit homes and businesses in Carrigart and will ensure all wastewater is treated appropriately. The wastewater treatment plant is currently served by infrastructure that is overloaded and performs poorly. This can lead to partially treated wastewater being discharged to Carrigart Bay and Mulroy Bay.

This investment will improve the drinking water quality, while also complying with the current Drinking Water Regulations serving a population equivalent of 900. Furthermore, it will deliver additional capacity and ensure that wastewater is treated to a standard that protects the environment and complies with regulatory requirements.

Murphy Ireland is carrying out the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann. The works will commence in February 2024 and are due to be completed by 2026.
