Brownshill to Straboe Crossroads Water Mains Replacement

National Leakage Reduction Programme

Uisce Éireann, in partnership with Carlow County Council, has replaced problematic water mains from Brownshill to Straboe Crossroads to provide a more reliable water supply and reduce high levels of leakage.

The works involved the replacement of 6.5km's of problematic water mains with new upsized modern pipes. Increased network capacity & improved efficiency will benefit current & future customers. The programme to replace the water mains in Carlow commenced in early September. These works were carried out as part of Uisce Éireann's National Leakage Reduction Programme.

The section of works took place between Brownshill Resevoir - Straboe Crossroads.

The works also involved laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers' property boundaries and connecting it to the customers' water supply.

The works were carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Ward & Burke Construction Ltd.
