Askeaton Wastewater Treatment Plant

Uisce Éireann is commencing the detailed design of a new wastewater treament plant in Askeaton, Co. Limerick.  

This project is being delivered as part of Uisce Éireann’s Small Towns and Villages Growth Programme.

The works involve a provision for a new wastewater treatment plant, an upgrade to the existing pumping Station, a new rising main to the new plant, the connection of Lismakeera to the new plant, and the closure of a number of storm water overflows.

This project is being delivered to support existing and future developments within the community. It will improve the capacity of the existing wastewater network in the area, improving performance, reducing demands on the current network and mitigating the risk of sewer flooding within the catchment.

What are the benefits of the works?

  • Supporting social and economic development – This project will facilitate social and economic growth, including planned residential development.
  • Upgrading the wastewater network to facilitate future demand – This project will ensure the required capacity of the wastewater infrastructure to support future development in the area.
  • Reducing the risk of sewer overflow – This project will improve the capacity of the existing sewers, improving performance and reducing the risk of sewer flooding in the area.
     

Will customers be affected by the works?

Site investigation works are due to commence shortly with minimal impact to the local community. Once the planning has been approved customers will be notified in advance of construction commencing. 

We understand that this type of work can be inconvenient and works crews will make every effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works cause. 

Standard working hours are 8am to 6pm, Monday to Thursday and 8am to 4pm on Fridays.
