Ashbourne Trunk Water Main Replacement

National Leakage Reduction Programme

Uisce Éireann, in partnership with Meath County Council, has improved the water network in Ashbourne to provide a more reliable water supply.

The project to replace the problematic trunk water main in Ashbourne commenced in March 2020 and were completed in August 2020. These works are being carried out as part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme.

The works involved construction of approximately 1.8km of upgraded watermains along the R135 from St. Johns Wood Court north to the M2 Roundabout. It included some interconnection upgrades at the junction of Deerpark and the R135.

The works were carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by GMC Utilities Ltd.

In order to minimise disruption a phased approach with areas of works limited to short sections was adopted for the delivery of this project.
