Supply returning for Glenary treatment plant but reservoir replenishment will take time

20 June 2026

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Water supply is returning to customers supplied by the Glenary Water Treatment Plant, but it will take time for treated water reservoir levels to fully recover. A plant interruption led to low treated reservoir levels, with crews working late last night to restore operations as the network now gradually recovers. The unplanned outage resulted in no water or low water pressure for customers in Elm Park, Haywood road, Glenconnor, Cherrymount, Ballingranne, Powerstown Road, Silverspring, Clonmel Town Centre and surrounding areas.

Alternative water supplies will be available at the following locations:
•    St Oliver National School, Elm Park
•    Cherrymount Housing Estate
•    Civil Defence Office, Haywood Road

Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure, as per advice from the Health Service Executive.
Uisce Éireann’s Pierce Faherty has assured customers that every effort is being made to restore a full water supply as quickly as possible.  “We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage, and we thank customers for their support while the treated reservoir levels fully recover,” said Pierce.

Supply is expected to be restored by 10am on Monday, 22 June. Typically, it takes three to four hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.  Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours. To register as a vulnerable customer or as an alternative contact, visit our Vulnerable Customers page.
