Supply returning to customers on North Leitrim Regional Water Supply Scheme following successful completion of repairs

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Water supply is returning to homes and businesses on the North Leitrim Regional Water Supply Scheme this afternoon following the completion of repair works to a burst water main.

Customers in Sweetwood Upper, Corrasra, Killargue, Drumduffy, Drumkeeran and surrounding areas were impacted by the burst, along with those supplied by the Ballinagleragh Group Water Scheme in Leitrim and the Dowra Public Water Supply in Cavan.

Following the completion of repairs, supply is returning to customers this afternoon. Typically, it can take three to four hours for normal supply to be fully restored to all properties after an unplanned outage. Customers located at the end of the network or on higher ground may experience longer restoration times as the system continues to recharge.

Uisce Éireann’s Kevin Love said: “We understand the disruption an unplanned outage like this can cause and would like to thank customers for their patience while crews worked to repair the burst.”

Previous Updates

Uisce Éireann is working to restore normal water supply to homes and businesses supplied by the North Leitrim Regional Water Supply Scheme following a burst water main on the scheme this evening.

As a result of the burst, customers in Sweetwood Upper, Corrasra, Killargue, Drumduffy, Drumkeeran and surrounding areas, and those supplied by Ballinagleragh Group Water Scheme in Leitrim & Dowra Public Water Supply in Cavan may be experiencing disruptions to their supply.

Repairs are complex due to the nature of the burst and are expected to be completed by 5pm tomorrow.

Typically, it takes three to four hours following repairs for supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.

Uisce Éireann acknowledges the inconvenience caused to customers by unplanned outages such as this and wishes to assure those impacted that all efforts are being made to repair the burst and restore normal supply as quickly as possible.
