Supply returning in Crossmolina after successful repairs
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Water supply is returning to normal levels in Crossmolina this afternoon after the successful repair of a water main which burst this morning.
Approximately 100 Uisce Éireann customers in the Churchfield and Abbeytown areas of the town were affected by disruptions to their supply as a result of the burst.
Crews mobilised to site this morning to locate and isolate the burst on the main, and repairs were complete at approximately 3pm.
Typically, it takes three to four hours following repairs for normal supply to be restored to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the network recharges.
Colette Scahill of Uisce Éireann said that customers who were affected by supply disruptions this morning should find their supply returning in the coming hours.
“Our crews worked as quickly as possible in difficult weather conditions to locate and repair this burst and restore normal supply for impacted customers," said Colette.
“We are conscious that customers in Crossmolina and the surrounding area have suffered a number of outages over the last week, and we wish to thank impacted residents and businesses for the understanding they have shown while these have been addressed.”

Crews responded to a burst at a nearby location on Sunday. That burst was repaired and normal supply restored from 3pm on Sunday afternoon but unfortunately the main has burst again this morning.
Uisce Éireann Water Network Operations Manager Colette Scahill said crews will complete their repairs as quickly as possible in order to restore normal supply.
“Our crews have successfully located the source of this burst and are currently beginning repair works,” said Colette.
"Unfortunately, often when repairs are made to one section of water main, it can place increased pressure on a nearby section and lead to another burst.
“We acknowledge the frustration that persistent bursts on the network can cause for impacted customers, and we thank residents and businesses in Crossmolina for their understanding as we work to resolve the issue.”
