Strokestown’s supply successfully secured ahead of festive season
Strokestown has even more reason to celebrate this festive season. With major water network upgrades now complete, residents can enjoy a reliable supply for years to come, adding to the pride of the town’s football triumphs this year.
The project, which began last year, involved replacing 1.3km of ageing water mains along Bawn Street, Church Street, and the Tulsk Road (N5) with modern, durable pipes. These upgrades have significantly reduced leakage and put an end to frequent bursts that previously disrupted supply.
As part of the works, new water service connections were installed from the public water main to customers’ property boundaries, ensuring a more secure and efficient network.
The improvements have already delivered tangible benefits, with fewer interruptions and a more consistent water supply for the community.
Commenting on the successful completion, Enda Mac Namara of Uisce Éireann said: “We are delighted to see the positive impact these works are having for the people of Strokestown. This investment is part of our ongoing commitment to upgrade critical infrastructure, reduce water loss, and provide communities with a dependable water service. We thank residents and businesses for their cooperation throughout the project.”
The works were carried out by Farrans Construction on behalf of Uisce Éireann, with traffic management measures in place to minimise disruption during the construction phase.
Chairperson of Strokestown Community Development Association, Eugene Murphy, praised the efforts of the team in delivering this project for the people of the town.
“I would like to acknowledge the efforts of Uisce Éireann’s team and their contractors, Farrans, for delivering this project to such a high standard. This upgrade will benefit local families and businesses, supporting growth and ensuring resilience in the network. It’s a vital step towards safeguarding water quality and meeting the long-term needs of the people of Strokestown.”
