Sandyford water network upgrade progresses with overnight connection works
As part of ongoing works to upgrade the water network in Sandyford, Uisce Éireann is advising customers in Sandyford and surrounding areas of planned overnight works to complete a connection to the upgraded water network.
Customers in the western part of the Sandyford Business Park will experience a disruption to their supply during the works, and customers in Stillorgan, Kilmacud, Deer Park, Goatstown, Drummartin, Merville and surrounding areas may experience low water pressure or temporary interruptions to supply from 8pm on Wednesday, 28 October until 6am on Thursday, 29 October.
This will be the first of two major connections delivered as part of the project. The second and final connection is scheduled for early November.
These works form part of our €5.2 million investment in the Sandyford water network, which has seen 920 metres of water mains upgraded along Carmanhall Road, Blackthorn Road and Burton Hall Road.
The investment will strengthen the local water network, improve supply capacity and help support future growth in the area, enabling the potential development of up to 5,700 new homes.
Uisce Éireann’s Michael McManus said: “These works form part of the final stage of a significant investment in Sandyford's water infrastructure and will support a more resilient and reliable water supply for the Sandyford area.
“We know any disruption to water supply can be inconvenient. That's why we're carrying out these works overnight, when demand is lower, and we'll be working to complete them as quickly and safely as possible. We'd like to thank customers for their patience and understanding while this work is carried out.”
While many customers will see supplies return quickly after works are completed, it can take a number of hours for water pressure to fully recover across the network, particularly for those on higher ground or at the end of the network.
Supporting customers, especially those who may be more vulnerable during service interruptions, remains a priority. Registered vulnerable customers receive direct communications from Uisce Éireann for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
