Investment ensures continued delivery of clean and safe water for North Carlow

More than 15,000 Uisce Éireann customers in North Carlow, including Carlow Town, and parts of Wicklow and Kildare, will welcome the news that the Carlow North Regional Water Supply has been removed from the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) list of vulnerable water supplies.

A €15.5 million upgrade of the Rathvilly Water Treatment Plant has reaffirmed Uisce Éireann’s commitment to delivering a safe, reliable and resilient water supply to local homes and businesses.

Hugh Kennedy, Programme Manager at Uisce Éireann, said: “We’re proud of the team effort that led to the successful completion of upgrade works at the Water Treatment Plant in Rathvilly. We had the community in mind at every step of the project and ensured the water kept flowing throughout.

“With the completion of this project, we are ensuring the continued supply of safe, clean drinking water to the area, enabling local communities to thrive.

“It’s great news that the completed project has enabled the removal of the Carlow North Regional Water Supply from the EPA’s Remedial Action List (RAL). We would like to thank the local community for their support and patience while the work was underway.”
