Water supply returning to customers in Cahir following repairs

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Water supply is returning to Uisce Éireann customers in Cahir following repairs to a burst water main that supplies the town’s Edenmore Reservoir.

Uisce Éireann crews have completed repairs to the water main, and supply is now expected to return to all customers over the course of this evening.

Uisce Éireann’s Pierce Faherty said: “We understand the disruption an unplanned outage like this can cause and would like to thank customers for their patience while crews worked to repair the burst.”

Typically, it takes three to four hours following repairs for normal supply to be restored to all affected customers. However, it may take longer for customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.

Previous Updates

Uisce Éireann crews are working to restore water supply to customers in Cahir following a major burst to a water main that supplies the town’s Edenmore Reservoir.

The burst is impacting customers in Cahir Town and the surrounding areas.

Alternative Water Supplies will be available from at Cahir Park Soccer Club, Castle Car Park and Cahir Mart.

Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tankers and to boil water before consumption as per HSE advice.

Uisce Éireann’s Pierce Faherty has assured customers that every effort is being made to restore a full water supply as quickly as possible.

“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned interruption to supply and we thank customers for their support while our works continue.”

Repairs are expected to be completed by 9pm tonight.

Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.

To ensure the safety of the crews carrying out the repairs to the burst and the safety of the public, traffic management will be in place and will be clearly signposted.
