Supply returning after successful repair of Lough Atalia burst

Supply is returning to Uisce Éireann customers in Galway city who were affected by a burst water main on the Lough Atalia Road last night (Thursday).
Customers on the Lough Atalia Road, College Road, Wellpark Road and surrounding areas were impacted by disruptions to their supply as a result of this significant burst.
Uisce Éireann crews responded to the burst quickly and worked into the early hours to isolate and repair the damaged main. Repairs were completed at approximately 5am this morning, and supply is now returning to all affected customers.
Teresa Burke of Uisce Éireann thanked affected customers for their patience while repairs were ongoing.
“We acknowledge the inconvenience of an unplanned outage for our customers, and we wish to thank impacted residents for their understanding,” said Teresa.
“Our crews worked late into the night to repair this significant burst and restore supply, and we wish to thank the crews for their dedication also.”
Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.

Uisce Éireann crews are working to repair a burst pipe in Galway City and restore water to customers affected.
Uisce Éireann’s Teresa Burke has assured customers that every effort is being made to restore a full water supply as quickly as possible. Areas affected include College Road, Lough Atalia Road, Wellpark Road and surrounding areas.

Repairs are expected to be completed by Friday morning. Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.
To ensure the safety of the crews carrying out the repairs to the burst and the safety of the public, traffic management will be in place and will be clearly signposted.
