Uisce Éireann crews are working to restore water supply to customers in Castlerea following technical issues at Longford Springs Water Treatment in Co Roscommon that resulted in low reservoir levels.
Customers in the following areas may be experiencing no water or low water pressure as a result: Castlerea town, Ballintuber, Castleplunket, Kilmurray and surrounding areas.
Uisce Éireann’s Gerard Healy assured customers that every effort is being made to restore supply to those impacted as quickly and as safely as possible.
“We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and thank customers for their support while crews work to restore supply. We estimate that up to 5,000 customers may be impacted. Works will take place across the day in an effort to have the plant back in full operation as quickly as possible.”
Typically, it takes a number of hours following the completion of works before water supply is fully restored to all impacted customers, and it may take longer for customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.
Uisce Éireann is committed to keeping customers informed across multiple platforms 24/7 and we encourage customers to engage with us through our website, X channels @IWCare and @IrishWater, on Facebook and LinkedIn and through our customer care helpline which is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278.
