Burst water main affecting supply to Tower/Blarney area
Second burst pipe in the area in two days
Irish Water and Cork County Council are working to restore water supply in the Blarney/Tower area following a second burst pipe in the area in two days. The burst is affecting supply to customers in Laureston, Tower, Blarney and surrounding areas.
Crews on site and carrying our repairs
The first burst occurred yesterday (Wednesday) and was repaired by the afternoon, with water returning to customers over the course of the evening. However a second burst occurred early this morning, approximately one mile from the location of the previous burst. Crews are on site and carrying our repairs. It is expected that supply will be restored to affected customers by 5pm this evening.
It can take 2-3 hours after the repair is completed for normal water supply to return. As it returns the water may appear cloudy or dirty. Discoloured water can usually be cleared by running the cold water tap in the kitchen for a few minutes until the water runs clear.
We apologise for the inconvenience as a result of this incident and would like to assure residents and businesses in the area that we are working as a matter of priority to restore normal supply. Updates will be posted throughout the day on the Supply and Service Updates section of our website and on Twitter at @IWCare. Customers can also call 1850 278 278 for information.
