All Domestic Water Charges have been refunded. Cheques have been issued to account holders for the full amount paid.

About your cheque
We want to refund our customers efficiently and securely within the timeframe given. Cheques are the most effective method available to do this while also ensuring we refund to the correct person.
As the refund cheques are crossed ‘account payee only’, these are required to be lodged directly to the named bank account. Once cleared, the account holder will have access to the funds. The means by which cheques can be lodged to account may well vary between one bank and another.
Information for tenants
All refunds are made payable to the account holder. If you were a tenant and paid your water charges to your landlord or under your landlord's name, the cheque will be issued to your landlord as the account holder. You need to contact your landlord directly regarding the Irish Water refund.
All customers will be fully refunded the amount they paid.
- Unmetered households with more than one occupant who paid all five bills could receive a refund of up to €325
- Unmetered households with a single occupant who paid all five bills could receive a refund of up to €200
- Metered households, including those who availed of allowances for children may be due less
Where the account holder is deceased, we will issue the refund cheque to the appropriate person entitled to receive the refund on behalf of the deceased customer. Please print and complete the Indemnity Form and return it to Irish Water, PO Box 860, South City Delivery Office Cork City. For security reasons we cannot accept photocopied or scanned forms. If your address or other details have changed since you paid your Irish Water bills, please contact us urgently to update your account. 0818 448 448 or +353 1 707 2824, Monday to Friday 9am to 2pm.
If your cheque has been issued to a different address, there may be some delay while the original cheque is cancelled and reissued.
What happens now?
The refunding of domestic water charges does not change our core mission at Irish Water. As Ireland's national water utility we continue to be responsible for providing water and wastewater services throughout Ireland.
