Wicklow Water Mains Rehabilitation

Many of the water mains in Wicklow, particularly the older cast-iron water mains, were in a poor condition and were prone to high levels of leakage.

A County wide water conservation programme was put in place to target and replace old water mains. The targeted water mains were replaced with modern, heavy duty polyethylene pipes. In addition, the service pipes associated with the targeted mains were replaced up to the boundary of each property.
