€13.8 million investment in the Tuam Regional Water Supply Scheme Extension to Loughrea will provide a safe and secure water supply to over 6,000 local residents and businesses.

Irish Water has awarded the contract for the design, construction and commissioning of the Tuam Regional Water Supply Scheme Extension to Loughrea to Shareridge Farrans JV.

Steps

  • Construction of approximately 20km of water mains from Carrowmonesh in Oranmore to Seefin Reservoir site located near Loughrea Town

  • Decommissioning of two existing water treatment plants in Loughrea

Where will the works take place?

  • The proposed works will take place along the local, regional and national roads between Oranmore and Loughrea in County Galway.
  • During the works traffic management will be in place and local access will be maintained at all times.
  • Works will also take place on private land adjacent to the roads along this route.

Notification of Temporary Scheduled Water Outage

To facilitate water main connection works in Loughrea at Lake Road Water Treatment Plant and Seefin Water Treatment Plant, two water outages are scheduled:

1) On Tuesday 29 September, 2020 at 12.00am through to Wednesday 30 September, 2020 at 05.00am the planned water outage will affect Barrack Street, Faheys Garden, consumers of the scheme in East Loughrea to Seefin, Lake Road and Cross Street.

2) On Wednesday 30 September, 2020 at 12.00am through to Thursday 1 October, 2020 at 05.00am the water outage will affect Lake Road.

A third water outage is scheduled for Thursday 1 October, 2020 at 12.00am through to Friday 2 October, 2020 at 05.00am to facilitate water main connection works at Cross Street/Lake Road junction in Loughrea. The areas affected include Barrack Street, Faheys Garden and consumers of the scheme in East Loughrea to Seefin

Notification of Traffic Management Measures

Permanent road reinstatement works through Craughwell, Co. Galway will commence on Thursday 3 September, 2020 and are expected to last until 11 September, 2020. The works are facilitating the major water main rehabilitation project from Oranmore to Seefin along the R446.

There will be temporary traffic management measures in place while works are being carried out in the area. Road users are obliged to follow the traffic management signals, which will be signposted in each area. Access to properties will be available provided communication from all parties is maintained.
