Swords Water Mains Replacement

National Leakage Reduction Programme

Uisce Éireann, in partnership with Fingal County Council, is replacing ageing water mains in Swords to provide a more reliable water supply and reduce high levels of leakage.

The works involve the replacement of problematic water mains with high density polyethylene (plastic) pipes on Brackenstown Road, Swords, Co. Dublin. The works are scheduled to commence in September 2019 and are part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme.

The project will be delivered in two phases. Phase 1 will commence on Monday 16 September. The works will involve laying 700 metres of new water mains on the Brackenstown Road from 400 metres west of the Brackenstown/ R108 junction to the roundabout adjacent to the Parkview estate. This work will take approximately 4 weeks to complete.

The works will be carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by GMC Utilities Group Ltd. and are expected to be completed in early of October 2019.

Phase 2 involves replacement of 2.3 kilometres of water main from the roundabout adjacent to the Parkview estate to the Brackenstown Rd/ Dublin Road intersection. This aspect of delivery is in detailed design and at present there is no confirmed commencement date or final approved budget allocation.
