Irish Water, in partnership with Kildare County Council is upgrading the wastewater network in Newbridge North, Co. Kildare.

Irish Water, working in partnership with Kildare County Council is undertaking essential works to upgrade the wastewater network in Newbridge North, Co. Kildare. The works are being carried out as part of Irish Water’s Growth and Development Programme.

The works in Newbridge North will commence in mid-August and will consist of the installation of approximately 230m of new sewer pipeline. The works are part of a project to improve the capacity of the existing sewers in the area to support future residential development.

The works will be carried out on behalf of Irish Water by Coffey Construction Ltd. and are expected to be completed by mid-October.

What is involved as part of this project?

This project involves the installation of approximately 230m of new sewer pipeline in land immediately north of the Cork to Dublin railway line. Further works will take place along a section of Rosconnell Avenue adjacent to the Rosconnell Street Apartment Complex.

This project is being delivered to support future developments within the community and to improve the capacity and performance of the existing sewer network in the area.

What are the benefits?

The works carried out as part of this project will:

• Support social and economic development – This project will facilitate social and economic growth, including planned residential development in Newbridge.

• Improve the sewer network - The planned sewer upgrade will improve the performance of the existing network in the area.

Traffic Management

In order to complete these works in a safe and efficient manner, traffic management in the form of a road closure will be in place along Rosconnell Avenue from the entrance at Sexes Road to Rosconnell Grove. The road closure will take place in mid-September for approximately one week.

Traffic along Rosconnell Avenue will be diverted around Rosconnell Square. Local and emergency traffic will be maintained at all times.
