Kingston Road Water Mains Replacement

National Leakage Reduction Programme

Uisce Éireann, in partnership with Galway City Council, has replaced ageing, problematic water mains in Kingston Road, Knocknacarra Cross, Co. Galway to provide a more reliable water supply and reduce high levels of leakage.

The works involved the replacement of almost 2km of aged problematic water mains with new modern pipes. The programme to replace the water mains on Kingston Road, from Knocknacarra Cross to Threadneedle Road, Co. Galway commenced in June 2022. These works were carried out as part of Uisce Éireann's National Leakage Reduction Programme.

The section of works took place along Kingston Road. The works began at Knocknacarra Cross and worked towards Threadneedle road over the following weeks.

The works also involved laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers' property boundaries and connecting it to the customers' water supply. Where the existing service connections on the public side are lead these were replaced as part of this improvement work.

The works were carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Farrans Construction.
