Gorey Regional Water Supply Scheme

Water Supply Project

Uisce Éireann has upgraded the Gorey Rural Public Water Supply.

Uisce Éireann, working in partnership with Wexford County Council, has completed works on the scheme that serves the Gorey Rural Public Water Supply. The works included a new 8,000 m3/day Water Treatment Plant, 7,500m3 Storage Reservoirs and upgrades to the source boreholes. The works were carried out by Glan Agua Ltd on behalf of Uisce Éireann.

The project has provided new infrastructure to address the risks to water quality and water availability in the Gorey Rural Public Water Supply and provide additional supply to support current and future growth in the wider Gorey region.

What was involved as part of this project?

This project was delivered by Glan Agua Ltd and included:

  • 8,000m3 capacity water treatment plant providing enhanced treatment facilities
  • 7,500 m3 storage reservoirs at Ballyminaunhill
  • Incorporating 13 no. new and refurbished boreholes into the supply arrangement
  • Construction of 2.8km of watermain
  • Allowing 6 no. small temporary water treatment plants to be rationalized
