Currently Claregalway and Milltown in Co. Galway do not have a wastewater treatment facility and rely on individual treatment systems within developments and septic tanks. This €5.6 million investment will include the construction of new sewerage systems and wastewater treatment plants in both Claregalway and Milltown and these will assist in the sustainable growth of these towns. Treated effluent from these plants will be suitable for discharge to the River Clare, which is part of the River Corrib Special Area of Conservation.
