Uisce Éireann has completed works on the new sewerage scheme in Inchigeelagh. 

Uisce Éireann, working in partnership with Cork County Council, has completed works on the Inchigeelagh Sewerage Scheme. The project, which was delivered under its €6.8 million budget, involved the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant and sewerage infrastructure, which has now eliminated the discharge of untreated wastewater into the River Lee. Glan Agua delivered these works on behalf of Uisce Éireann.

What was involved as part of this project?

  • A new wastewater treatment plant which will serve a population equivalent of 290.
  • Construction of a new below ground wastewater pumping station.
  • Construction of approximately 315m of new rising main to transport untreated wastewater from the pumping station to the proposed new wastewater treatment plant.
  • Construction of approximately 110m of gravity sewer to transport untreated wastewater from Cois Na Coillte to the proposed wastewater treatment plant.
  • A 45m long outfall pipeline to safely discharge treated wastewater to the River Lee.
