Cork City Water Supply - Eastern Strategic Trunk Watermain
Irish Water is progressing with significant upgrades to the water network across Cork City
Irish Water, working in partnership with Cork City Council, is working to improve the security of water supply across Cork City through the delivery of three projects. Farrans Ltd. is delivering these three projects on behalf of Irish Water, with the works expected to commence in the coming months.
Irish Water is upgrading Cork City trunk watermains to increase security of supply and reduce leakage of large strategic mains in Cork City.
What is involved as part of this project?
As part of this project, Irish Water will:
- Replace and upsize where required 2.4km of various sized large diameter trunk mains between Camden Quay and Shanakiel Reservoir.
What are the benefits of this project?
- Provide a secure and reliable water supply to Cork City.
- Reduced leaks as the replacement of water mains and service connections will eliminate existing leaks and reduce the amount of clean drinking water lost into the ground.
