Wastewater Project
Collooney and Ballymote Wastewater Treatment Plants
Works commencing at two sites in Sligo to improve the water quality in the Owenmore River
Works are underway to upgrade the Collooney and Ballymote Wastewater Treatment Plants. Currently sewage from Collooney and Ballymote is treated by way of an old, sub-standard treatment system which has no storm water storage capacity.
The upgraded wastewater treatment plants will provide for a greater capacity and will greatly improve the quality of the final effluent leaving the plants. The upgrade works represent a total investment of over €9.9 million which will improve water quality in the Owenmore River and support economic growth and development in Ballymote and Collooney. The works are being delivered by Veolia on behalf of Irish Water.
