• The proposed WWTP will improve the water quality in the receiving waters by achieving the required discharge requirements as set out in the Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive
  • Cleaner water will enhance Ballyvaughan’s amenity value and act as a platform for social and economic development
  • The new pipes, pumping station and treatment plant have all been sized to accommodate an increase in the local population. 
  • The project will ensure that the water quality standards set down by regulatory bodies will be achieved


  • Construction of a new wastewater treatment plant that will serve a population equivalent of 900
  • Construction of a new terminal pump station with storm water storage
  • Sewer pipelines to bring untreated wastewater to the WWTP, and treated water to the existing outfall pipe
  • The existing outfall pipe will safely discharge the treated wastewater to Ballyvaughan Bay
  • This project is currently in design and pre-planning stage
