Balbriggan Water Supply Network Upgrade
Irish Water is progressing upgrade works as part of €21.7 million investment in the Howth, Malahide and Balbriggan Water Supply Schemes
Irish Water, working in partnership with Fingal County Council, is working to improve the water supply for Malahide, Howth, Balbriggan and the surrounding areas. As part of this project, Irish Water has completed essential upgrades to the water mains in Balbriggan to secure the water supply for local businesses and residents into the future. John Craddock Limited completed these works on behalf of Irish Water.
What does this project involve?
- Construction of 5.7km water main along the R132 to Balbriggan
- The new watermain is now connected and fully operational

Ongoing and Upcoming Works
R132 - Applegreen Roundabout to Balrothery Village/Hampton Lane
Permanent road resurfacing works along the R132 from the Applegreen Roundabout to Balrothery Village are continuing on Monday 16 November 2020. Additionally, works will also commence along Hampton Lane.
Stop and Go traffic management will be in place to facilitate these works. Please see attached plans. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.
Traffic Management:
- Stop and Go traffic management.
- VMS Signage will be installed on all approaches to inform motorists and
- the public of the works.
- Advanced traffic management warning signage will be in place and shared to AA Road Watch.
- Working areas will be kept to a minimum to minimise traffic congestion.
- Local and emergency access will always be maintained.
Stakeholder Engagement:
These works will be carried out in phases and limited to short sections to reduce impact to businesses and residents. All residents, businesses and Fingal County Council have been communicated with in relation to the works. We apologise for any inconvenience that these essential works may cause.
