Works underway to upgrade the sewer network in Navan

29 November 2021

Uisce Éireann is working to improve the sewer network in the Trimgate Street and Bakery Lane area of Navan. The delivery of this wastewater project will support existing and future residential and commercial development and will help to safeguard the environment by reducing the risk of wastewater overflows. Works are being delivered in adherence with current HSE and government COVID-19 advice.

Works involve the construction of approximately 45 metres of new sewer along Trimgate Street and Bakery Lane. Works along Trimgate Street are now completed. Remaining works along Bakery Lane are scheduled to be delivered from Monday 29 November until completion in mid-December between 9:00am and 6:00pm daily. Works along Bakery Lane will require a lane closure with pedestrian diversion via Old Cornmarket in Navan. Traffic management will be in place with local and emergency access maintained at all times. Uisce Éireann understand that this type of work may be inconvenient and work crews will make every effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works cause. These improvement works are being delivered on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Farrans Construction.

Commenting on the project, Dave Murphy, Uisce Éireann said, “A sewer network that is fit for purpose is essential in order to support business and social development in the community. These works will support existing and future residential and commercial development while also improving the overall performance of the sewer network, helping to safeguard the environment. Uisce Éireann regret any inconvenience these improvement works may cause”.

Uisce Éireann continues to work at this time, with our local authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of drinking water and wastewater services.
