Works underway to restore water supply to Monivea Road customers

15 March 2021

Uisce Éireann, working in partnership with Galway City Council, wishes to advise customers on the Monivea Road in Galway City that a burst watermain will have an impact on their water supply today.

A second burst to this watermain near the Clayton Hotel occurred early this morning and approximately 800 properties in the Briarhill and Doughiska areas are affected.

Commenting Tim O’Connor, Asset Operations Lead for Uisce Éireann said: “A crew is carrying out emergency repairs and traffic management will be in place while these essential works are underway.

It is likely water supply will be off until 4pm today but it may take 2-3 hours for normal supply to return.

Uisce Éireann understands the inconvenience to customers when their water supply is affected and we would like to thank the public for their patience and cooperation while this unplanned outage is attended to.

Uisce Éireann’s customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on Twitter @IWCare with any queries. For updates please visit the Supply and Service Updates section of our website.

Uisce Éireann would like to remind people to follow the HSE COVID-19 advice and ensure frequent handwashing.
