Works underway to repair bursts to two water mains in Clones Town and surrounding areas

Uisce Éireann and Monaghan County Council are carrying out repairs to two burst water mains serving Clones Town and surrounding areas. Crews are working to repair the burst water mains as quickly and as safely as possible and in line with COVID-19 protocols.

Emergency repair works are ongoing since this morning and it is anticipated that repairs to the first water main shall be fixed by early afternoon. It is anticipated that the emergency repair works to the second burst water main shall be fixed later this evening. As a result of these bursts residents and businesses in these areas may experience outages this afternoon. Discoloured water and low water pressure may also be experience once the repairs are complete and refilling of water reservoirs occurs overnight.

Peter Gallagher, Uisce Éireann, said: “Uisce Éireann is working with Monaghan County Council to repair two burst water mains which is currently causing some low water pressure/ water outages to a number of customers today. People living and working in these areas are asked to conserve water where possible and to only use what they need whilst continuing to adhere to public health advice on hand washing and hygiene regarding COVID-19 while these repairs are underway.
