Works underway to repair burst water main in Westport, Co. Mayo

18 December 2020

Uisce Éireann and Mayo City Council wish to advise customers in the following areas in Westport: Lodge Road, Slogger, Monamore, Knockranny, Buckwaria and the Clogher GWS, that their water supply has been impacted as a result of a burst to a water main on the grounds of Allergan. Approximately 1,000 people are affected by this unplanned outage.

Repairs are complex and will extend into tomorrow. Updates will be available on the Supply and Service Updates section of our website. An alternative water supply is available for customers at the entrance to Buckwaria Road near Rice College. Customers are advised to bring their own containers when availing of the alternative supply and to boil the alternative water supply before use as a precaution.

Uisce Éireann understands the inconvenience when a burst occurs and thanks customers for their patience while we work to repair the burst and restore normal supply to impacted customers. Our customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on Twitter @IWCare with any queries. For updates please see the Supply and Service Updates services section of our website.

Uisce Éireann continues to work at this time with our Local Authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of both staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of critical drinking water and wastewater services. Uisce Éireann would like to remind people to follow the HSE COVID-19 advice and ensure frequent handwashing.
