Works to repair bursts to two watermains serving parts of Lough Talt and Killsellagh water supply zones
Crews are working to repair the two bursts as quickly and as safely as possible
Irish Water is working in partnership with Sligo County Council to repair two bursts watermains in the county. A burst watermain has occurred at the Lough Talt water supply zone, which will impact the water supply to homes and businesses in Muckelty, Tubbertelly, Lavagh, Carrowmore, Carroweden, Branchfield, Carrownaleck, Cloonbaniff, Mullaghnarry, Ballyglass, Carrowloughlan, Knockadoo, Carrowleam, Lisserlough, Seevness, Rathmactiernan Rathbarron, Fetherneen, Carrowmacarrick, Gleann and Kilnagrelly townlands. A second burst water main has occurred within the Killsellagh water supply zone, which may impact the water supply to homes in the Avondale area.
Crews are working to repair the two bursts as quickly and as safely as possible to safeguard the water supply for homes and businesses in the affected areas. It is expected that the repairs will be completed within the Lough Talt water supply zone by 1pm today. The repairs will be completed within the Killsellagh water supply zone by 4pm today. Customers are advised that it may take 2-3 hours for normal supply to return to all impacted customers as the network refills.
Irish Water and Sligo County Council thank customers for their patience while we work to repair the bursts and restore normal supply to impacted customers. Irish Water and Sligo County Council regret any inconvenience caused and would like to remind customers to continue following HSE advice on handwashing.
Irish Water is working at this time, with our local authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of drinking water and wastewater services.
