Works continue to drive down leakage across Trim with further upgrades to water main

Securing the water supply in Trim remains a top priority for Uisce Éireann as the intensive campaign continues to drive down leakage across the town and improve the water supply to homes and businesses.
Working in partnership with Meath County Council, Uisce Éireann will upgrade the watermain along the Dublin Road area of Trim, due to frequent bursts that have caused regular water outages in the area. As part of these leak repair works, there will be disruption to the water supply on Thursday, 7 July 2022, from 8am to 6pm. During these essential works, homes, and businesses along the Dublin Road will be impacted by water interruptions.
The works continue to be delivered as part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme which continues to deliver significant benefits to the local community including improved water quality, a more secure water supply and considerable water savings.
Highlighting the importance of this upgrade, Matt Thomson, Leakage Reduction Programme Regional Lead with Uisce Éireann, said, “We are delighted to announce this upgrade for Trim. Replacing these old and damaged, pipes is a first step in tackling water quality, pressure and leakage issues which have been affecting homes and businesses."
"The works will not only reduce the amount of drinking water lost to leakage, but it will also significantly improve water quality for the local community as well as delivering a much more reliable supply for generations to come.”

Upon restoration of the water supply the customer may notice some discolouration to the water and/or some differences in taste. This should only be temporary and should clear if you run your tap. Fixing leaks can be complicated but we are making progress. In 2018 the rate of leakage nationally was 46%, by the end of 2021 it was reduced to 38%.
