Works to repair two bursts to a watermain serving Ballaghaderreen town and parts of Sligo

Irish Water is working in partnership with Roscommon County Council to repair two bursts to a watermain serving Ballaghaderreen town and parts of Sligo. The bursts may impact the water supply to homes and businesses on Main Street Ballaghaderreen; Charlestown Road, Ballaghaderreen; and Derrinacartha in Co Roscommon. Areas affected in Co Sligo include Banada and Keel Banada. There is sufficient water within the reservoir located on the Sligo network to ensure continuity of supply to the rest of the Sligo network until the morning.
Crews are working to repair the two bursts as quickly and as safely as possible to safeguard the water supply for homes and businesses in the affected areas. It is expected that the repairs will be completed by tomorrow (Thursday) morning and it may take 2-3 hours for normal supply to return to all impacted customers as the network refills.
Irish Water and Roscommon County Council understand the inconvenience when a burst occurs and thanks customers for their patience while we work to repair the bursts and restore normal supply to impacted customers. Irish Water and Roscommon County Council regret any inconvenience caused and would like to remind customers to continue following HSE advice on handwashing.
Irish Water is working at this time, with our local authority partners, contractors and others to safeguard the health and well-being of staff and the public and to ensure the continuity of drinking water and wastewater services.
