Work on-going to repair a burst water main that supplies Newcastle West and surrounding areas
Irish Water, working in partnership with Limerick City and County Council are working to repair a burst water main that supplies the reservoir feeding Newcastle West and surrounding areas. There is some supply in the reservoir however levels are dropping. In order to maintain some supply to homes and businesses the supply will be restricted meaning that those impacted will experience low pressure. Some customers on the extremities of the network or on higher ground may experience water outages. The areas impacted include the Old Mill area, Ardagh area, Monagea, Newcastle West and Castlemahon.
Crews are on site and are working to repair the burst safely and as quickly as possible, however the repair is proving complex due to difficult ground conditions from the recent heavy rainfall. The repair is expected to be completed later tonight. Once the repair is complete water supply will begin to be restored. Full water service may take some time to return as water refills the network.
