Works in Arklow and Wicklow Town may cause supply disruption
Possible disruption to water supply in the coming days
Irish Water wish to advise customers in Arklow and Wicklow Town that, as part of watermain improvement works being delivered there may be a disruption to water supply in the coming days.
Construction of 5.3km of new water mains
In Arklow, customers may experience disruption on Wednesday 29th May from 9.00am-1.00pm in Churchview, Blackberry Glade, Abbey Park and Abbey Heights. This will be followed by a supply interruption on Liam Mellows Avenue, Abbey Street, Church View, Abbey Park, Abbeyville, Castlepark, Old Chapel Ground, Harbour Court, Tinahisk, South Green, Abbeylands, Ocean and South Key on Thursday 30th May from 10.00pm-2.00am. The works being undertaken are part of the construction of 5.3 kilometres of new water mains along the public road and the installation of new service connections from the new water main to each customer’s property.
Construction of 346 metres of new water mains
In Wicklow Town, customers on Main Street and Fitzwilliam Square, Wicklow Town may experience disruption to water supply from 2.30pm-6.30pm Thursday 30th May and 8.00am to 12.00pm Friday 31st May 2019 as part of watermain improvement works being delivered there. The works being undertaken are part of the construction of 346 metres of new water mains along the public road and the installation of new service connections from the new water main to each customer’s property.
Possible reduced water pressure and water outages
During these essential planned works homes and businesses in the affected areas may be impacted by reduced water pressure and water outages. Following these improvement works water supply may take 2-3 hours to return as water refills the network.
Part of our national Leakage Reduction Programme
These works are being carried out as part of our national Leakage Reduction Programme which will, over the next 4 years, see €500 million invested to reduce the level of leakage across the country by fixing and replacing ageing water mains. This will ensure a safe, reliable water supply which is vital for our health, our environment and our growing population and economy.
