Watermain improvement works on the Clontarf road

Uisce Éireann working in partnership with Dublin City Council is carrying out essential watermain improvement works on the Clontarf road in order to safeguard the water supply to homes and businesses in the area. These essential works are being delivered in adherence with current HSE and government Covid-19 advice.

The works involve the replacement of more than 1.5 kilometres of old cast iron watermains which have been prone to bursts, with new heavy duty plastic pipes. GMC Utilities will be carrying out the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann.

The works are planned to take place along Clontarf road from 14 April 2021 to 17 April 2021 between 9am and 5pm each day.

On Wednesday 14 April, properties fronting the Clontarf road from the Wooden bridge junction to Vernon Avenue junction, Conquer Hill Road, Vernon Court, Fortview Avenue and surrounding areas may be impacted by intermittent disruption to their water supply.

On Thursday 15 and Friday 16 April, properties fronting Clontarf road from Seafield road junction to The Wooden Bridge junction and Bull Wall Cottages may be impacted by intermittent disruption to their water supply.

On Saturday 17 April, properties along the Clontarf road from the Wooden Bridge junction to the Vernon Avenue junction, Bull Wall Cottages, Vernon Court and surrounding areas may be impacted by intermittent disruption to their water supply.

Traffic management will be in place to facilitate the safe delivery of the works, while local and emergency traffic will be maintained at all times.

Uisce Éireann and Dublin City Council have reconfigured the network to maintain normal supply to as many properties as possible however, customers in the following locations may be impacted by intermittent disruption to their supply; and surrounding areas. Whilst every effort has been made to minimise the impact of the works a small number of properties in these areas may experience water outages for short periods during the day.

Speaking about the works, Matthew Thomson, Uisce Éireann said, “We understand that this type of work can be inconvenient and working in partnership with Dublin City Council we will make every effort to minimise any disruption that these necessary works may cause. The delivery of these essential works will help to safeguard the water supply to homes and businesses in the area ensuring a safer mores sustainable water supply.”
