Watermain improvement works progressing to safeguard the water supply in Navan
Works part of project to replace the problematic trunk water main
Irish Water, working in partnership with Meath County Council, is progressing with a new connection to the existing watermain which feeds Navan Town and surrounding areas in order to safeguard the water supply to homes and businesses in the area. This watermain improvement work is being undertaken as part of a project to replace the problematic trunk water main between Proudstown Reservoir and Navan Town.
The works involve construction of 2.9km of trunk watermain along Donaghmore Lane and along the N51 Slane Road to Navan Town with a further 700 metres of trunk watermain constructed on the N51 Slane Road. There will be upgrades to the water mains in Navan Town with the installation of 500 metres of new water mains on Flower Hill and 1km of water mains on the Proudstown Road.
Traffic management and diversion routes
To minimise disruption works will be completed in phases and traffic management will be in place. In order to safely facilitate the works a road closure will be required on Flower Hill from 7:00pm on Wednesday 15 July until 7:00am Thursday 16 July and from 7:00pm on Thursday 16 July until 7:00am Friday 17 July. Diversion routes will be in place and clearly sign posted. Emergency access will be maintained at all times. Local access will also be maintained for the duration of the closure. The works will be carried out on behalf of Irish Water by GMC Utilities.
Irish Water wish to advise customers in Navan Town and surrounding areas that they may experience lower than normal water pressure and/or outages from 10:00pm on Wednesday 15 July until 8:00am on Thursday 16 July while these essential works are carried out. Following these improvement works water supply may take 2-3 hours to return as water refills the network.
Working to minimise disruptions

We would like to thank the local community, businesses, homeowners and commuters for their patience and cooperation while we deliver this vital water network improvement project safeguarding the water supply for homes and businesses in Navan.”
