Water Restrictions from 9pm tonight to 8am on Monday in parts of Longford

• Water will be maintained for Longford Town and St Joseph’s Care Centre
• Customers are being asked to check vacant properties for leaks and to check for any leaks on water troughs for animals
• Water supply under pressure in areas in Longford due to increased demand and private side leak

Irish Water is advising customers in Longford that due to the extremely cold weather conditions and exceptionally high water demand, some water treatment plants in the county are struggling to keep up with supply demands. 

Water restrictions will be in place from 9pm tonight to 8am on Monday, 5 March for all customers in Newtownforbes, Clondra, Granard town and surrounding areas, Ballinamuck and Drumlish and customers between Lettergunnell and Gelsha. Water restrictions are being imposed to help replenish water levels in reservoirs.

Customers are being asked to conserve water to avoid reservoirs emptying and water pressure to homes and businesses being affected.

Customers are being asked to check vacant properties for leaks and repair them as soon as possible as they are having an impact on the available water in the public network. Customers are also asked to check for any leaks on water troughs for animals and carry out repairs as soon as it is safe to do soCustomers throughout Longford are urged to conserve water by not running taps unnecessarily, taking showers instead of baths and to refrain from using dishwashers and washing machines.
