Water supply in Bundoran is restored following pipe burst
Repairs were completed at approximately 12.30pm today
Irish Water, working in partnership with Donegal County Council has completed repairs to a section of water main that burst in Bundoran last night (Sunday). Repairs were completed at approximately 12.30pm today, however it may take several hours for full water supply to return to customers in higher lying areas.
Second burst on this pipe in a number of days
This is the second time a burst has occurred on this pipe in a number of days. A previous burst occurred on Friday and repairs were completed by Saturday morning.
Approximately 500 customers were affected by this unplanned outage and we would like to apologise to all businesses and residents affected for the inconvenience caused and thank them for their patience while crews worked to repair the pipe. Our Customer Care team is available 24/7 on 1850 278 278 or customers can visit our Supply and Service page on our website for updates.
We will be replacing approximately 1.4kms of water main
Due to the frequency of bursts on this pipe, we will be replacing approximately 1.4 kilometres of water main in Bundoran. These works are due to commence in September, once the busy tourist season is over and are due to take eight weeks to complete. These essential works are part of the Donegal Countywide Water Main Rehabilitation Project, in partnership with Donegal County Council, investing €12 million in the replacement and rehabilitation of approximately 40 kilometres of old water mains across the county.
We are committed to safeguarding a secure and clean water supply for all customers in Co Donegal.
