Irish Water, working in partnership with Cork County Council, has repaired the water main in the Rathpeacon/Whites Cross area of Cork. The water supply in Rathpeacon, Monard, Killeens, Kilcully and Whites Cross will be restored in the next few hours.

Crews were on the ground since Monday morning, however due to the weather conditions yesterday, it was proving difficult to repair the burst safely. With improved site conditions today, the repair was completed and normal water supply is resuming. Full water service may take some time to return as water refills the pipe network.

Irish Water would like to thank those affected for their patience and co-operation, and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

A temporary water station will remain in place at the Country Squire Bar in Rathpeacon this evening. Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.

Our customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1850 278 278 and customers can also contact us on Twitter @IWCare with any queries. For updates please see our water supply and services section.
