Water restrictions for parts of Athlone and surrounding areas
Restrictions in place from 10pm tonight, Sunday, 11 November until 6am tomorrow morning, Monday, 12 November
Irish Water and Westmeath County Council wish to advise customers in Athlone and the surrounding areas that due to a burst water main water levels have dropped in the Annagh Reservoir which supplies Athlone. In order to allow water levels to recover it is necessary to carry out water restrictions from 10pm tonight on Sunday, 11 November until 6am Monday, 12 November 2018 which will impact customers in Athlone Town, Baylin, Mount Temple, The Ories, Garrycastle, Dublin Road, Ardnaglug, Fardrum, Moydrum, Blyry, Killyon Hill, Bonavalley, Athlone and surrounds in Co. Westmeath.
This necessary night-time restriction is being put in place to ensure customers have a water supply to their homes and businesses during the daytime. This action is being taken to ensure that there is an adequate quantity of water available to supply industries, schools, residences and commercial activities during business hours.
The water supply will restore to customers as the network refills. It can take a number of hours for the water to restore to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network once the water supply is turned back on. We expect that supply will return to customers between 6 am and 8am as the water returns to the network.
