Irish Water wishes to advise customers in Athlone and the surrounding areas that due to high demand on the water supply at Athlone Water Treatment Plant, a water outage will be necessary in Athlone and surrounding areas from 10pm tonight Thursday November 15 until 6am tomorrow Friday 16 November. The disruption is due to demand in the network exceeding the quantity of water that is being produced by the Water Treatment Plant. The Plant continues to operate at full capacity however, the water level in Annagh Reservoir continues to fall day on day causing disruptions to supply. This action is being taken to ensure that there is an adequate quantity of treated water in the reservoir to supply industries, schools, residences and commercial activities during business hours.
