Water restrictions due to mechanical fault being carried out at Athlone Water Treatment Plant

Irish Water wishes to advise customers in Athlone and surrounding areas that due to a mechanical fault at the Athlone Water Treatment Plant, a water outage will be required in Athlone and surrounding areas from 10pm tonight, Wednesday October 17 until 6am tomorrow, Thursday October 18.  

Restriction will affect over 8,000 customers

The outage will impact approximately 8,000 customers on the east side of Athlone Town, Baylin, Mount Temple, Ories, Garrycastle, Dublin Road, Ardnaglug, Fardrum, Moydrum, Blyry, Killyon Hill, Bonavalley and surrounds in Co. Westmeath. A crew is currently onsite fixing the fault. The water restriction is necessary to ensure that there is an adequate quantity of treated water to supply industries, schools, residences and commercial activities during business hours.
