Upgrade works on treatment plant in Gort may affect residents
Possible loss of water pressure and water outages on Wednesday, April 3
Irish Water, working in partnership with Galway County Council, would like to advise customers in Gort town centre that they may experience a loss of water pressure and customers in outlying areas of the town will experience a water outage on Wednesday, April 3, between 10am and 4pm due to necessary works.
Upgrade will provide a more advanced treatment process
The works are part of an upgrade to the Gort Water Treatment Plant which, when complete, will provide a more advanced treatment process to help protect against contaminants and improve the quality of water supplied to customers from this plant.
These works are part of a €2.3 million investment in the upgrade of the Gort and Spiddal Regional Water Supply Schemes which will ensure drinking water is in compliance with the current drinking water regulations.
Works expected to be completed by October 2019
The project commenced in April 2018 and is expected to be completed by October 2019. We are also progressing plans to construct a new water storage reservoir to serve Gort town and outlying areas which will provide 24 hour storage.
We would like to thank customers in advance for their patience while these necessary works take place and apologise for any inconvenience they experience.
Customers with queries can contact the our customer call centre which is operational 24 hours a day, seven days per week on 1850 278 278.
