Update on water outage in North Kerry due to a pump failure at Listowel Regional Water Treatment Plant
Water tankers are available at the following locations and will be manned by the Civil Defence until 9pm tonight. However, customers will be able to access water from the water tankers throughout the night
Due to a pump failure supplying water to the Listowel Regional Water Treatment Plant, the water supply to customers in Listowel, Moyvane, Knockanure, Lisselton, Finuge, Lixnaw and surrounding areas is disrupted. Irish Water and Kerry County Council are working to ensure the pump is repaired as soon as possible. Replacement parts are being made in Mallow and engineers will continue to work throughout the day and late into the night to carry out this complex repair. Senior officials from Irish Water and Kerry County Council have been on location throughout the day and are monitoring the situation closely.
Exact timing on restoration of a full supply depends on progress of repair work and a further update will be provided as soon as it is available. In the meantime emergency water supplies will continue to be provided in the affected areas. Irish Water and Kerry County Council thank the Civil Defence for all their assistance throughout the day as they continue to distribute bottled water to vulnerable customers, man water stations and assist with the distribution of information leaflets to homes and businesses. Alternative water supplies have also been diverted to the local hospital and where possible to other businesses in the area.
