Update on water conservation measures in Skerries and surrounding areas
No Restrictions for Thursday night
Irish Water will maintain full water supply to the Skerries area for Thursday night following previous programme of restrictions which has resulted in improved reservoir levels. Any necessity to carry out further reduced night-time restrictions on the supply to avoid widespread water outages for the area, is and will continue to be under daily review.
The easing of restrictions has been made possible because of the positive impact on the reservoir levels through the restrictions over recent days and the conservation efforts of those members of the community who did have water.
Please continue to conserve water for the foreseeable future
Irish Water together with Fingal County Council are urging those customers who do have full supply in Skerries and surrounding areas to continue conserving water for the foreseeable future due to increased demand and to help maintain water levels in the Thomastown Reservoir. Customers in the Loughshinny and Skerries Road, Rush areas are also being urged to conserve water.
Reduced available supply of treated drinking water
The current dry spell and increased seasonal demand are contributing to the reduced available supply of treated drinking water.
The water levels in the reservoir will continue to be under daily review. Irish Water together with Fingal County Council are hopeful that if water conservation measures continue to be implemented in homes and businesses, the potential need for restrictions will decrease.
