Update on Boil Water Notices imposed on drinking water scheme to in Co. Offaly
Irish Water continues to work closely with the EPA and HSE investigating the sample failures
Irish Water is continuing to work closely with the EPA and HSE to investigate recent water quality sample failures for Birr, Banagher and Dunkerrin drinking water supplies in Co. Offaly. These investigations include further water quality sampling and audits at each of the drinking water treatment plants to ensure all treatment systems are working correctly.
We are expecting water quality sampling results today but may require further sampling or investigations at the plants before the HSE is in a position to lift the boil water notice. We are therefore strongly advising all customers to continue to boil all water before consumption until further notice.
As soon as we get confirmation from the HSE that the Boil Water Notice can be lifted we will inform customers, issue a press release to local and national media and elected representatives. We will continue to update the Supply and Service section and Customer Care Twitter account, @IWCare.
We thank you for continuing to bear with us and apologise sincerely for the inconvenience this is causing. Our primary concern at all times is the protection of public health.
If you have any question on the above, please call our Customer Care Helpline any time on 1850 278 278.
