Update for Customers in Ballykeeran, Glasson, Mount Temple, Ories and Annagh in Athlone
Annagh Reservoir continues to refill
The water level in the Annagh reservoir is continuing to refill slowly following a burst water main on the Ballymahon Road yesterday. The reservoir is refilling slowly due to the daytime demand for water. As the reservoir refills pressure will increase throughout the network. All customers and businesses in Athlone town have a normal water service restored since yesterday evening. It will take until tomorrow(Thursday) for water to return to 750 customers on higher ground in areas such as Ballykeeran, Glasson, Mount Temple, Ories and Annagh. Irish Water and Westmeath County Council have organised for temporary water stations to remain in place until a normal water supply is restored to these customers.
Stationary Water tankers are located at:
- The viewing area Ballykeeran
- Mount Temple Village
- Lay-By Fardrum
- Ardnaglug Athlone
Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
Irish Water and Westmeath County Council apologise to customers affected by this unplanned outage. Crews worked hard yesterday to repair the burst as quickly as possible. The water supply section of the website is continuing to be updated on the location of the stationary water tankers. The Irish Water customer care helpline is open 24/7 and customers can call us on 1850 278 278 and quote this unique reference number WME015467 for updates.
